Following the Twitter feed of Noel Clarke, the writer and co-director of 4.3.2.1, we were surprised to see him express his displeasure regarding a Q&A he did at the BFI a few weeks back. Our surprise wasn't aimed at him, though, rather the audience that turned up to question him, whom he described as 99% uninterested in what he had to say.

That's odd. Because, and 4.3.2.1 offers ample of proof of this, if you're a young filmmaker looking to make movies in the UK, Noel Clarke is absolutely one of the people you should be hunting down to talk to.

Night Train is a "what if" story about three strangers traveling on a train on Christmas Eve who come across treasure by way of a very dead passenger. The three struggle with whether or not to do the right thing (notify the authorities) or dispose of the body and keep said treasure for themselves.

Very quickly, each shows his or her true colors. The veteran, by-the-books train conductor, played by Danny Glover, wants to call for help and be done with the issue. The alcohol-guzzling, slapstick salesman, played by Steve Zahn, is ready to take the treasure but is unsure of what to do with the body. And a young pre-med student headed home for the holidays, played by Leelee Sobieski, is calm, cool, collected and, ultimately, makes the decision for all of them (and her pre-med training comes in handy regarding the body's disposal).

This sequel follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by giving a fairy tale a different spin. In this alternate version of Snow White, the princess is a snotty teenage brat whose beloved mother has just died. Trying to find a female figure to help guide his daughter, the king dates Lady Vane, who, with the help of an evil magic mirror, has made herself look like the deceased queen to catch the king's eye. Included are 3 games.

A few years ago, there was a wave of movies coming out of the U.K. that focused on the football hooligan phenomenon (ie. organized gangs of soccer fans who beat the living crap out of rival supporters). I’ve seen two of these flicks: The Football Factory and Green Street Hooligans, the latter of which I preferred despite the fact that it is somewhat Americanized (it does star Elijah Wood after all). I know some people had problems with the authenticity of Green Street Hooligans, but something tells me that these people are going to have an even harder time accepting the sequel Green Street 2: Stand Your Ground.

The skit movie is a lost art. It’s been a long time since something like Kentucky Fried Movie or Monty Python and the Meaning of Life came out. Sure, the “Movie” movies have picked up some of the slack, but I don’t remember the last time I saw an honest to god skit-based film in theaters.

But, with the rise of internet video, and wonderful, oddball comedy sketches from the likes of www.thelonelyisland.com through http://www.kylepiccolo.com, the arena seems primed for the return of the genre.

Nothing thrills you more than the event of your childhood heroes/characters coming alive on screen again. I was part of one such nostalgic carnage only yesterday. Mr. Sylvester Stallone is back in the fourth, and what might clearly be the last installment of the Rambo franchise. Along with playing our beloved noble war-machine, Stallone dons the mantle of the screenwriter and director too.

With a title like Opstandelsen - Resurrection - you might expect something fresh, innovative or at least uplifting, but this little Danish zombie flick is about as grimly downbeat as they come. Checking off all the classic tropes - a single location, a deeply flawed cast nursing a variety of crippling psychological issues, a group of survivors turning on each other - it clocks in at under an hour, and doesn't suggest there was much left on the cutting room floor. So what makes it memorable nonetheless?

The Resident, a new release under the wing of Hammer films, features the re-occurring Hammer favorite Christopher Lee playing the role of tenant August with our focal characters Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Max the landlord and the ever alluring Hilary Swank as Dr. Juliet Dermer. Juliet is a young doctor who had relocated to New York under the relationship promise of joining her “now” ex boyfriend. Finding herself working long hours, under duress and alone she comes across a dream apartment that seems to good to be true for the view and condition it’s in. It’s Max who makes every effort to make her feel at home and comforted right form the start. Though as the drama thriller evolves, it is clear that not is all as it seems. A dark secret is quickly coming to the surface about Max and the place and in the meantime a relationship begins almost immediately

When a bomb explodes at the Bonwit Teller department store, a man calling himself "Simon" phones Major Case Unit Inspector Walter Cobb at the police station and claims responsibility for the bomb. He orders suspended police officer Lt. John McClane to walk through the middle of Harlem, in his underwear, wearing a sandwich board with the slogan "I hate Niggers" on it. McClane is driven there by Cobb and three other officers. Harlem electrician Zeus Carver spots McClane and tries to get him off the street before he is killed, but a gang of black youths attacks McClane and Carver, who barely escape. Returning to the station, McClane and Carver learn that Simon is likely in possession of several gallons of a bio-chemical agent explosive stolen the night before. Simon calls the station again and demands McClane and Carver put themselves through a series of "games" to prevent any more explosions. McClane is forced to lie to Carver to gain his trust.

Ambitious, wide-boy Nick Leeson is determined to rise in the world and be more than a simple bank clerk. In Jakarta he meets and marries Lisa and together they go to Singapore when the bank offers him the job of setting up their future options trading operation. To save money the bank allows Nick to operate both the floor trading and the back office facilities and force him to employ cheap, unskilled staff. His first year of trading is a big success and he makes large profits for the bank even though he has illegally broken trading rules and secretly covered up losses. Given more freedom, even more money and continuing unchecked, Nick starts to make losses and again attempts to trade out of them but this time he comes unstuck as his illegal trading generates even bigger losses. After the death of his unborn child Nick completely loses control and gambles without restraint with other peoples money leading inevitably to a complete financial meltdown and the bankruptcy of the bank.
