PARIS (Hollywood Reporter) – This second attempt to turn billionaire heir Largo Winch into a bona fide crime fighter fairs no better than its predecessor, suffering from the same narrative inconsistencies, expensively ineffective filmmaking and an overwhelming sense of dØj½-vu -- especially for anyone who grew up watching action movies in the '80s. While the 2008 original managed to gross a decent $14 million in France, it only cashed in another $3 million overseas. "The Burma Conspiracy (Largo Winch II)," despite a niftier title and the bizarre presence of Sharon Stone, will likely land on similar ground.

"G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" is a 118-minute animated film with sequences involving the faces and other body parts of human beings. It is sure to be enjoyed by those whose movie appreciation is defined by the ability to discern that moving pictures and sound are being employed to depict violence. Nevertheless, it is better than "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."

Some science fiction films take us to different worlds or alternate realities, or offer visions of the future. In each of these new worlds, certain new rules apply. Sometimes the rules are pretty simple and can be easily and clearly established, as in Star Trek or District 9. Other times the rules are exceedingly complex and raise a million questions, as in the new Surrogates, which is based on a comic book by Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele. In this future world, humans can strap themselves into a chair, plug themselves into a bunch of sensors and have complete control of an artificial being, including movement, speech and senses. This artificial being can then go out into the world to perform daily tasks, while the real person is safe at home, never risking getting hit by a car or falling down a manhole.

Amusement is easily one of the most confusing horrormovies I have seen in awhile. It easily could have gotten a PG-13 rating had it cut 2 or 3 scenes and frankly that might have done the movie some good. Its quite muddled, very confusing and although shot well with some pretty god unknown actors the lack of a telling story makes the movie really difficult to enjoy.

A traumatized woman is questioned by a cop and a psychiatrist about three stories involving a clown, a hotel and a convoy, that involve her and two of her female friends from childhood.

Written and directed by John Will Clay and Turner Clay, 2008's low budget thriller, Interception, tells the story of a software programmer named Ray Mayfield (played by John Will Clay) who drives home after being fired from his job. On the way, he comes across a nasty car accident and stops to see if he can help. He comes across the dying Dr. Bradford (Chris Roseland) who just so happens to have the codes to a nuclear detonator that his half-assed assailants were apparently after. Of course, once Ray gets the codes, the murderous bad guys give chase and he winds up having to work with an F.B.I. agent named Sarah Bradford (Ashley Morgan).

Next time when a star son gets an opportunity to get an author-backed role, let’s not complain. That’s because if he actually goes on to come up with as flawless an act as seen in “Wake Up Sid”, there is no reason why one should really be looking around for anyone else.

Ranbir Kapoor comes up with a neat, simple and believable performance. When most actors would have been happy to establish their standing in Bollywood with a quintessential romantic hero role, Ranbir is anything but a hero here.

2010: Moby Dick is without question the greatest modern day retelling of Moby Dick Roger Corman never produced.

A giant prehistoric white whale smashes sea-going vessels and knocks helicopters out of the sky, nuclear submarines dogfight a monstrous whale, a crazy sea captain with a robotic leg, sailors shooting at a giant whale with machine guns, speargun bazookas, massive explosions, countless corpses floating in the water, wisecracking black sidekick, maximum testosterone…

Sometimes a cool movie title is nothing more than a cool movie title, and the eventual movie that goes with it absolutely worthless. A typical example is “Nude Nuns with Big Guns” -- which by the way could’ve been called “Nude Lesbian Nuns with Big Guns”. I do of course like old, trashy exploitation movies from the 1970s. At least theoretically. In reality, most of the biker movies made back then are rather boring, just like loads of other old B-movies. But -- they had the advantage of actually being from the 70s -- for real. They are historical documents, both over their era and the the way they were made, cinematically speaking. The problem with latter day homages to antique exploitation fare, is that, well, they aren’t … for real. They’re imitating an extinct genre. The filmmakers try to make their movies look like they used to back then, instead of making a movie in the same spirit, but according to the style of film making of today.

John Glenn’s “The Lazarus Project” (formerly called “The Heaven Project” during production) is one of those movies that are tailor-made for DVD viewing. It’s a small psychological thriller about one man’s life that moves at its own deliberate pace, assured in the knowledge that it has what it takes to get from Point A to Point B without the need for flashy editing, over the top camerawork, or all that other garbage moviemakers nowadays indulge in to keep up with the MTV generation. Releasing it straight to DVD after a few festival appearances would seem to be the film’s ultimate destiny; and in this case, that’s exactly what has happened. Having seen the movie, I can’t say as if I disagree with the decision; not because “The Lazarus Project” isn’t any good, but precisely because it is good when viewed in the proper setting.

The Search for Santa Paws is the latest Disney Christmas movie due out on Blu-ray/DVD on November 23rd. Santa's feeling a little down and Mrs. Claus and the elves gift him with a dog they bring to life with a magic crystal. Santa names him Paws and they soon become very best friends.

Meanwhile, an adorable little girl named Quinn gets placed in a foster home with a woman that can only be described as the female version of Scrooge. She hates Christmas. Hates toys. Hates singing. She's the singularly most unpleasant person I've come across in a while. Disney couldn't have made a better choice in casting her in this role.
