The Priest Movie Trailer via the Comic-Con has premiered. Priest (2011) is directed by Scott Stewart and stars Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Lily Collins, and Cam Gigande. Priest‘s plot synopsis: “A warrior priest (Paul Bettany) disobeys Church law by teaming with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a beautiful priestess (Maggie Q). The three band together to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped the priest’s niece (Lily Collins) before they turn her into one of them.”

Antichrist is the film all Cannes has been waiting to see. Its co-star Charlotte Gainsbourg has compared it to pornography. Director Lars von Trier says he was depressed when making it. Audience members, many of whom booed and laughed derisorily when it finished, left the competition screening frothing that he was sick, a misogynist, responsible for the most offensive film they'd ever seen.

If there's one thing that binds the best exorcism films, it's that the really good ones all offer some great acting. The major players in The Exorcist give amazing performances, The Exorcism of Emily Rose is believable through the work of its solid ensemble, and, now, The Last Exorcism delivers a potentially star-making performance from Patrick Fabian. What seems to be a "me too" attempt at creating another Paranormal Activity is actually a fascinating, uncomfortable, character-driven look at matters of faith and fear.

Do not be fooled by the title. While Monsters features its fair share of creatures over the course of its 97 minute runtime, this is far from your average sci-fi flick. Rather, it's a sweet, small-scale story, set against a backdrop of large-scale alien invasion.

Boogeyman 2 is a film unfortunately made by unfocused drunks. It starts as a traditional Boogeyman film, with a mystical being who has the ability to shut off your lights at will and turn your closet into a portal to the past and other worlds. Halfway through the film, the producers said, "Screw it," and turned it into a whodunit slasher. This type of "Eh who cares" attitude makes Boogeyman 2 a baffling mishmash of characters and lackadaisical death scenes.

If you are familiar with what a Donkey Punch is…then you would think it has something to do with a brutal sex act. Well, you would be right!

What is Jennifer's Body, and what is it supposed to be about? I don't know, and the film doesn't seem to, either: It's not really a horror movie, because those are usually scary. Nor is it smart or self-aware enough to be a treatise on teenage girls or male fears of female sexuality. And it's not even a swing-for-the-fences, spectacular enough failure to be a death knell or even deconstruction of the severely limited appeal of either its star, Megan Fox, or its screenwriter, Diablo Cody. Jennifer's Body substitutes hipster credibility for emotional currency, confuses pop-psychology insight with substantive social commentary, and measures terror on a scale that ranges from the word boo to a dead spider; in short, Jennifer's Body just does not work.

Nostradamus’ and his studies have been linked to predicting the rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte, September 11, and other events/people that changed the course of the world. Along with monumental changes, his name has also been linked to the end of the world. While many years have been linked to the end of the world (I remember working at a grocery store in December of 1999 and many people buying food and supplies as if they were anticipating the end of the world), 2012 seems to be the more popular date in recent times. It’s arguably been prophesized in many cultures to be the end of times for centuries. Thus, we get the History Channel’s Nostradamus: 2012. Once again the History Channel has gone above and beyond to give a comprehensive look at the man, his prophesies, and 2012. Be prepared, though, there’s a ton of information wrapped in this 97min package.

Narrated by James Lurie, this documentary covers a wide spectrum of information. Honestly, at times it can get a bit convoluted. A documentary, heck a series of documentaries could be made on both the figure of Nostradamus and the prophecy of 2012, yet it’s all packed together. It’s organized well in the beginning, but by the end of the documentary you might have wished you took notes to follow along. I guess that can be considered a good thing since this is certainly a documentary that could (and arguably should) be screened more than one time. As can be expected, the documentary is packed with experts on the subject matter at hand and theorists.
