Review:

Guys, if you want a tent in your pants this Thanksgiving weekend. . .or ladies. . .if you want something to sing-along about then Burlesque is the movie to watch. However, be warned, this flick is as cliche as it can get.

Christina Aguilera plays a small town girl from Iowa who moves to Los Angeles for a chance to become a famous singer. She ends up working as a waitress at a burlesque show runned by Cher. After paying her dues she makes it on to the stage and rocks everyone's world. You know, that same old story. As sub-plots we get Kristen Bell as a rival to Aguilera, Cher at risk of losing the business because of the economy, and Cam Gigandet (Twilight) as a love-interest for Aguilera. But, really, none of it matters because it's the song-and-dancing that take center stage. And, boy, are they great. Aguilera has an amazing voice. You already know that. So, all her singing scenes are fantastic. Cher does two numbers, but despite all the plastic surgery she's a woman in her `60s. She can no longer compete with younger gals like Aguilera, Bell, and Julianne Hough (Dancing with the Stars). As a result, she steps away from the spotlight and let's these girls take over. It is, after all, Aguilera's movie. If you're a Cher fan, keep that in mind. The one person who upstages everyone is Stanley Tucci as Cher's assistant. He's hilarious, charming, and brings a lot of heart to the picture. Hopefully, he'll get an Oscar-nomination.
